We recently hosted an inspiring and forward-looking session on Decolonizing and Localizing Evaluation, organized by our Outreach Team members Roxana Gómez-Valle (Nicaragua) and Tsigereda Bekele (Ethiopia).

Our invited speakers, Ana Luisa Guzmán and Alfredo Domínguez, both well-known evaluators and active members of the Latin American and Caribbean Network for Monitoring, Evaluation and Systematization (ReLAC), offered powerful reflections rooted in their regional expertise.
The session centered around the Evaluation Standards for Latin America and the Caribbean, developed by ReLAC. These standards provide foundational guidance throughout the entire evaluation process—from design and development to reporting—grounded in the realities and priorities of Latin American and Caribbean contexts. Rather than simply adopting frameworks developed in the Global North, these standards promote an approach to evaluation that is locally meaningful and transformative.
The ultimate goal? To enhance quality of life, foster learning, and support virtuous cycles of development across the region.
Although Eddah Kanini was originally scheduled to join us and share experiences from AfrEA, she was unfortunately unable to participate due to an urgent family matter. We look forward to welcoming her in a future session.
