Master students write about Community-based Monitoring

Updated: Jun 13, 2022

Three Master students at the Institute of Development Policy presented their papers about Community-based Monitoring on Communitor's virtual platform.

On the 9th of June, Communitor hosted another online event. Three Master's students at the Institute of Development Policy, and supervised by Prof. Nathalie Holvoet, presented their end-of-module papers[1] written on the topic of Community-based Monitoring (CBM). These students are Queenie Diane Malabanan, To Uyen Nguyen, and Carolina Ponce. Queenie Diane analyzed the factors affecting community participation in CBM in different contexts and selected three case studies, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Cambodia. To Uyen discussed the mechanisms and success factors of CBM projects in marine and coastal resources management in Vietnam. Finally, Carolina performed a qualitative comparative analysis of open government and CBM.

Their topics and presentations were very interesting and stirred numerous questions from the audience present in the room. Unfortunately, the online audience could not intervene. However, the students’ presentations and papers are uploaded below, and if there are any feedback or questions, just comment below or contact us.

[1] End-of-Module Paper is a short paper preparing them for the final thesis.
