Abu Said Md. Juel Miah
Juel Miah is the team leader of Research and Evidence unit at BRAC Bangladesh. He has around 18 years of extensive experience in the fields of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning, participatory research, citizen engagement, Community Based Monitoring and development cooperation. Before joining BRAC, he worked in several international NGOs such as Transparency International, British Council, and ActionAid in their Bangladesh programmes. In 2020, he led a research project on community-based monitoring to assess the health service and food and cash assistance to the marginalized communities provided by the government during the COVID 19 pandemic. In 2018, he conducted a study to assess the effectiveness of an open school data initiative in government primary schools. He also evaluated and documented some excellent practices of citizen-led monitoring such as participatory planning and budgeting at the local government institutions, social audit of local government services, participatory video, monitoring of local public services by women-led grassroots agencies, etc.
Mr. Abu Said holds a MSc in development evaluation and management at the Institute of Development Policy (IOB). He has professional interests and expertise in governance, citizen-led monitoring, the inclusion of the marginalized to essential services and rights, evaluation, knowledge management, and policy advocacy with good skills in qualitative, quantitative, participatory research and evaluation methods.
