Prof. Dr. Alellie B. Sobreviñas
Alellie is an Associate Professor and Assistant Dean for Research and Advanced Studies at the School of Economics of De La Salle University (DLSU)-Manila in the Philippines. She obtained her PhD in Applied Economics from the University of Antwerp in Belgium. Her PhD research investigates the usefulness of the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) in understanding the relationship between international migration and poverty. She completed her Master in Development Evaluation and Management at the University of Antwerp in Belgium and her Master of Statistics at the University of the Philippines-Diliman. Meanwhile, her Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics was obtained from the University of the Philippines-Los Baños.
Prior to her doctoral study, she worked for the Community-Based Monitoring System Network (a sub-network of the Partnership for Economic Policy [PEP], formerly Poverty and Economic Policy International Research Network) where she had the opportunity to participate in various CBMS- and poverty-related research projects, in collaboration with various international, national and local development partners. The CBMS Network facilitates the development and utilization of CBMS for policymaking and governance, not only in the Philippines but also in other developing countries. While working for the CBMS Network, she was directly involve in conducting capacity building activities for researchers and development partners in the Philippines and in other developing countries and handled the review of research proposals submitted by researchers in developing countries who intend to pilot a CBMS implementation in their country. Her current research interests focus on poverty, international migration, development economics, impact evaluation and CBMS.
